Here we are going to sum up three basic social theories, which could be applied to all multicultural situations where you could be involved, not only in the maritime-work field:

 

To interpret those teories first we need to understand what ambiguity tolerance is; "the way we handle uncertainty". The higher our ambiguity tolerance is, the less worried we are going to be about the unknown.
To achieve a high ambiguity tolerance value is important (among others) to have theoretical knowledge, which may be useful in our road to achieve the level 4 of cross-cultural competences, if you are not there yet!
